즉, 기존에 분산되어 추진되던 인프라 통합 전략을 정보기술원이 클라우드 인프라 통합 전략이라는 이름으로 주도적으로 이끔과 동시에 클라우드 센터를 선정하여 구축해나간다는 것입니다.

아직 걸음마 단계이지만, 작년에 이미 KT가 클라우드 추진본부를 신설하여 클라우드 센터를 구축하고 "유클라우드"라는 브랜드로 사업을 시작한 것에 비하면 조금 더딘 행보라고 느껴집니다.

한국에서 통신사의 클라우드 추진 전략은 다음과 같은 방법론을 가지고 추진되는 것으로 파악됩니다.

** 1단계 : IaaS 중심 클라우드 사업 추진 + 내부 IDC 통합(가상화 적용을 통한 효율적 IDC 관리)
** 2단계 : PaaS, SaaS 영역으로 클라우드 사업 추진 확대 + N-Screen 사업 연계

일반적으로 잘 알려진 아마존의 클라우드 사업이나 MS, 구글 그리고 전통적 하드웨어 벤더들의 행보에 비하면 Telco가 이른바 "Fast Follower 전략"을 펼치겠다는 포부를 가졌던 2008년경의 계획을 돌아보면 한국 통신사들의 행보는 여전히 미진한 것이 사실입니다. 국내 최대 통신사로 자부하는 SKT가 이제 조직을 정비하는 상황이니까 말입니다.

아무튼 KT, SKT, LGU+가 클라우드 관련 사업을 좀 더 빠른 속도로 추진해야 할 거라고 생각됩니다.
기다리는 자에게는 아무것도 돌아오지 않는다?

Today, I saw the news "SKT, Integration strategy of cloud infrastructure" in Digital times published on 11-May, 2011. The following is a summary of this article.

Briefly say, 'Information Technic Business Unit' will lead integration strategy of cloud infrastructure that promoted at each business unit until now. At the same time, SKT will build new cloud center or conjugate existing IDC for the cloud business.

I feel a little slow pace from SKT in aspect of cloud business compared to KT because KT has already established a dedicated organization for cloud business last year and promoting aggressively its cloud service named "Ucloud" although still nascent.

As I think, Telecom's cloud business strategy has the following ways.

** Phase I : Starting with IaaS-centric cloud business + IDC integration adopted virtualization technologies to manage IDC effectively.
** Phase II : Extending to PaaS, SaaS + linking N-Screen business.    

Progress of telco cloud business in Korea is still insufficient compared to Amazon commonly known as representative of cloud business, Microsoft, Google and traditional hardware vendors(IBM, EMC, Cisco, etc). 
Telco had aspirations and planed so-called "Fast Follower Strategy" circa 2008. However, not enough at least in the present situation because SKT say reorganization for cloud business just now even though SKT is confident as the largest carrier in Korea.

Anyway, I think that KT/SKT/LGU+ should move more faster than now in the cloud.
